Spriggin
A downloadable tool
This tool is a **standalone 2D sprite animation editor**, designed to be used by anyone to create consistent animations quickly and efficiently. It supports RPG-style characters with 4-direction animations, modular parts (e.g., armor, weapons), and flexible poses. The goal is to reduce time spent on hand-drawn frames by allowing artists to animate a single rig and generate complete sprite sheets for all directions.
The tool is being prototyped in **Godot 4.5**, but the end goal is a **standalone application** usable outside any engine.
A core design pillar is **2.5D pose projection**: artists animate in simple 2D space, while the tool automatically infers depth, foreshortening, and overlap across directions.
this tool is well along in development. you can import character sheets 1 for each direction define each part that will be in the rig as well as their joints. phase 2 take the pieces you've set up and drag them on to the canvas to parent the joints this will automatically work in all 4 directions.
next step is creating the export system. ill post the beta here for free if you'd like to try it out
